The Clinical Extern and Student Pathway Coordinator is responsible for the planning, education, and integration of the Enhanced Extern Program, including the nursing externs and mobility externs. The EMC will also lead the coordination of student placement for nursing and allied health, as well as lead recruitment & retention programs for nursing and allied health offered through Ontario health and the Ministry of Health.
Education & Experience:
- Degree in a Health Care Discipline, preferably at a Masters’ level; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
- Current unrestricted registration with the Ontario professional college of discipline
- 2-3 years of recent clinical experience in rehabilitation, mental health, geriatrics and/or complex medicine
- Current CPR certificate
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Clinical Leader in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare environment, preferred
- Experience working with clinical students in a formal leadership position, preferred
- Experience in project management and project implementation an asset
Position Duties & Responsibilities:
- Acts in a leadership position deliver quality, evidence-based, person-centered services to patients and families
- Facilitates the recruitment of new staff, in coordination with Human Resources to create job descriptions and coordinate recruitment, interviewing, hiring and orientation
- Participates with and supports the direction and vision of Academic Clinician, Nursing Research Lead and the Patient & Client Care Portfolio, by actively engaging staff in the achievement of strategic and operational priorities, goals and objectives and demonstrating/reinforcing the Mission, Vision & Values of the organization in all aspects of care delivery
- Manages and oversees portfolio budget
- Create, adapt, and deliver orientation and learning resources for students
